Blech

or Why no pictures have been posted yet

Last night was the pits. The kids were still not adjusted to the time zone so they were both up around 10. Erin is getting 2 new teeth on the top and I think that is affecting her sleep as well. She finally went to sleep around 1:30.

Luke went down again at about 11, but we heard his door rattling again around midnight. Alec went in to put him back down and Luke threw up all over the bed and himself. Alec found an Advil on the floor and I freaked out. I was ready to call 911, but Alec said wait because it didn't look like there was any in the vomit. Turned out Alec had 2 in his jacket pocket and one fell out when he put Luke back in bed.

We got him cleaned up and changed the sheets. We made up the trundle bed because his mattress was wet - worked out well because the trundle is closer to the floor and, hence, the wastebasket to puke into. I was using the bathroom to get ready for bed when Alec said, "I know what made Luke sick!"

Luke has a water bottle that we keep on the kitchen counter so he can get a drink any time he's thirsty. I think know he back-washes into it. Well, the back-washed water sat in that bottle for 2 weeks while we were gone and last night while I was getting dinner ready he drank some. I'm surprised he didn't puke right then and there - that water was the cloudiest, nastiest smelling stuff ever!

Well, I got out my sleeping bag and slept on the floor next to him so I could help him when he needed it. He threw up about every hour until around 5 am and then once more at about 11 am after he drank too much apple juice. He hasn't thrown up since then, but now he has diarrhea.

Amazingly, this is the first time Luke has ever been sick throwing up or with diarrhea. After the initial surprise and mess, he was quite proud of himself for getting it in the wastebasket - until about 3 am when I knew he needed to throw up again and he said, "I don't want to, Mom."

Hopefully tonight will be better. Erin is sleeping now (we'll see how long that lasts) and Luke says his tummy feels all better, but he's not hungry yet. Tomorrow will be another day to lay low and try to get back on schedule.

PS. The offending water bottle is now in the trash can and all other water bottles in the house are getting a thorough scrubbing.

OOh! Sorry about that! As much as I want to see pictures of the trip, I totally understand. Poor little guy -- I hope he is feeling all better now. This week will be insane for me -- practice started and I'm collecting 70 tests and papers today which need to be graded by Wednesday of next week when exams begin. Exciting! Hope things get back to normal soon!
