There oughta be a test!

The more I read things about bad parenting, the more I am convinced that people should have to take a test before they are allowed to procreate.

My biggest argument is Britney Spears.

Today in line at the grocery store I see just another reason why I feel so very sorry for her little boy. First she drives with him in her lap and now he has a fractured skull because he fell out of his high chair. Here's the kicker: they didn't bring him in to the hospital until 6 DAYS LATER when they thought he was sleeping too much!

I know accidents happen and I don't claim to be perfect, but at least I have common sense and my child's well-being is a high priority. He only plays with the beer cans - I don't let him drink from them!

Katie, you hit the nail on the head -- it's common sense that the short commodity in our society. It can't be legislated into people. It has to be learned, and people who haven't developed a balance between freedom and responsibility just don't get it. Any other person would have had Child Welfare on their case for neglect...money & fame bring different expectations, I guess.

For all the whining and complaining we do in the ER for parents who bring their kids in for stupid little things, I get more frustrated when it's big things that get ignored. I'd rather examine a healthy child and send them on their way then have to deal with putting little humpty-dumpty back together again. Like yesterday when I took care of a 2 year old who fell out of the third story window onto the second story balcony and mom and dad waited a few hours to bring him in. All that time did not his lung re-inflate! Stupid people bug me. And Spears is at the top of that list!
