Magic Milk Part II

Yesterday was Erin's 2-week checkup. She is healthy and weighs 8 lbs, 12 oz. Last time she weighed 7 lbs. 3 oz - that's a gain of 1 lb. 9 oz. in 10 days! The doctor asked if I was exclusively breast-feeding - I guess he thought I must be supplementing.

Emily is here now. We've been having fun with her and the weather has been nice so we've been outside a lot. Today we went to my CBS leaders' group for the first time - there were lots of oohs and ahhhs. Several of the ladies offered to hold Erin for me, but I let Emily do it. They can all have a turn later.

Erin has been having some real gas problems lately. She eats VERY fast and ends up gulping air. Then, since she doesn't like to burp, it all works its way further down. Last night I tried to burp her more often while I was feeding her, but then she ended up spitting up a lot of it. It's not so bad during the day because Emily can help me calm her down and work the bubbles out, but the past 2 nights have been pretty long for me. I took a 2 hour nap today when Luke & Erin were both sleeping - Emily worked on her paper.

I know I already posted a picture like this, but she just looks so peaceful! Can you tell how much her face has filled out already? And her legs are starting to not look so skinny any more.

Yes, I know you're not supposed to put babies to bed on their tummies any more. However, sometimes this is the only way she'll sleep. I think it helps the gas pains. I'd rather have her sleep well and feel better than have to go in to calm her down every 15 minutes (which is what happened the night I decided to put her on her tummy finally). I felt a little guilty and nervous the first night, but realized that was silly since babies have been sleeping on their tummies for a long time - and babies can die from SIDS on their backs, too! I just won't tell the pediatricians unless they ask.

What a beautiful little niece I have! Now I really can't wait to meet her!

Isn't it amazing that we raised 3 kids who all slept on their tummies from day 1. Oh! Well, I won't tell if you don't.

Love the pictures.

Wow this is all so wonderful. You seem so calm about having 2 kids. I guess it helps that Luke is so well behaved.

I am counting down now. 3.5 more weeks, if that. Yikes!

Hooray for good old mama milk/booba juice, as Buddy used to call it.

Buddy was also a tummy sleeper. No worries :-)
