Triskaidekaphobia

The fear of the number 13.

Today is Friday the 13th and I don't believe in superstitions, but some could say we had a bad 13th.

First, Alec went to the ER this morning for an x-ray of his leg. Yesterday at work he was pushing a wheelbarrow and it went down in a little depression, got stuck, and jammed his left shin pretty badly. The ER doc couldn't tell if it was broken because that's his leg with all the scars from previous breaks and injuries, but he can't go back to work until Tuesday. He has crutches and has been icing it and taking Ibuprofen. He says it is feeing a lot better now, but it looks pretty nasty.

Second, Alec's parents are here visiting now and this morning Luke slipped getting off Papa's lap. He fell forward and hit his forehead on the leg of the piano bench. He's got a nasty looking purple bruise on his head and a nice red scratch on top of it.

He was pretty happy to watch the new VeggieTales Tutu brought, though.

And poor Erin. The effects of the bowl of bean soup I ate are lasting much longer than expected. She's been fighting gas all day and her tummy gets so hard. In the time it took me to write this post I've had to run upstairs 3 times to burp her or reposition her more comfortably. Hopefully it will pass by tomorrow - we're going to our baby shower at noon and I don't relish the thought of being up all night with a gassy baby (despite what I said about midnight feedings yesterday!).

It could have happened on the 12th or 14th or 30th - but neither of those boys look so good. Good thing you have a couple extra pair of hands around to comfort and help outl

Yikes! That's quite a bruise on Luke! Glad he and Alec seem to be doing well. Hey--when Alec went to the doc did he finally has about his knee while he was there? Two birds with one stone??
Hope Erin feels better--I wish I were there to de-gas her again.

Woo-hoo! Luke is starting the many bumps and bruises that come with being a little boy! That one looks like a doozy! Let me know how you/he does with his first real bloody one! :)
