It's HOT

Saturday began our current little heat wave. It's been in the 90s every day since then, but I'm not complaining. It cools down at night, there is little humidity, and it's supposed to cool off on Wednesday with a rain. Right now at 10 pm it is still 84 but it's supposed to go down to 64 overnight. Not bad. Just checked the weather report - highs for the next 3 days are 87, 61, & 59. Quite a change, eh?

The thing I will complain about is the pollen. Ugh!! Everything is covered with a yellow film and we are not feeling well. Alec has a constant tickle in his throat, my eyes are itchy and my nose stuffed, Luke has a constant drippy/plugged nose. Thankfully Erin seems unaffected right now - she's the one who's had a runny nose for the past month so now I'm thinking she's allergic to something else maybe. Who knows.

Following are a few pictures of the week's activities.

Erin pulled a washcloth out of the basket of laundry I was folding and now carries it around to wash her tea set dishes.

On Saturday, a friend came over to help Alec with the concrete for the garage addition.

Luke finally got to go in the pool! He's been begging for weeks now.

Unfortunately, 3 yards was not quite enough - Alec will have to fill the back corner later. But the rest of it looks good and now he can move on to the next step.

Kevin brought his little boy, Sam, along since he loves big trucks and construction. He was pretty shy at first since we haven't seen them in a long time but after he got in the pool with Luke he started warming up. They had a very good time going around and around and then watering all the plants in the yard when they tired of the pool. As a result, the water was completely disgusting by the time Erin woke up from her nap.

She didn't seem to care.

Thankfully (and amazingly) she did NOT drink it.

We filled it with clean water on Sunday afternoon. Erin REALLY wanted to step into this little float, but she didn't know how to get the second leg over. It was pretty funny to watch.

A little concerned.

Success - sort of. Finally just got the leg in the pool.

Now couldn't figure out how to get the leg OUT of the pool.

Luke loaded up the car to head out to the beach. And then squeezed himself in there with Erin. It's not really a 2-seater.

Today's afternoon snack: strawberry mice.

Almond sliver ears, black icing nose and eyes, licorice tail. Good ol' Family Fun magazine for the idea.

What cute little snacks! I'm impressed that you have heat enough to go swimming. We had a little heat wave last weekend, but now it's back to rainy and humid. The allergies here are terrible as well, though I think the rain has helped the past few days -- I had a lot of throat gunk and tickle Friday - Monday. Glad to see the progress on the garage too! Love you all.

Swimming in April!! That's probably a first for you. The little mouse snacks are adorable. I wish I was teaching Kdgn. again, I could use that with several literature lessons! Thanks for the pictures and updates. My desktop has Erin in the straw hat and my students at school love it.

Garage floor looks good, Alec! Wish I could have been there to help you...I think it would have been fun!
