Hmmmm

I admit to having a severe case of blogger apathy. I'm not really feeling like updating this thing, but I know that there are several people who wish I would at least once in a while. So I guess I will.

Here's a little recap of the last month, followed by a photo collage/barrage.
  • Erin started wearing pigtails
  • Alec and Luke celebrated International Model A Day by going to Bob Evan's for breakfast with the Model A Restorer's Club and then caravaning with about 15 other Model As to the College Park Aviation Museum
  • we had a long string of record high days - 90 to 100 most days
  • mom and dad came to visit so we have a new family picture - unfortunately I did not take many other pictures
  • I have had a bad case of hives for about 2 weeks now
  • Alec lost his job last Monday - he's been keeping busy doing yard work, cutting down trees in anticipation of adding on to the garage, and doing odd jobs for other people - right now he is at the county building getting a permit to build the garage
  • I've been spending a lot of time of Facebook - I think that's why I don't feel like blogging
  • I have resumed potty training of not one, but two children
  • yesterday Luke helped me make a batch of peach jam

I promise those will be the only potty pictures, but I thought it gave a good representation of how it works. Luke has a seat on the big toilet and Erin has a cheap-o potty from IKEA. He's been pretty reticent to continue the training, but Erin is very interested. Whenever I announce that it is potty time she comes running while he yells in protest. Eventually he comes over to show off while she practices sitting. So far she's only gone once - and it was a complete surprise for us both - but today the cotton training pants I ordered for her came so it will continue "for real" from here on out. I know she's only 16 months, but people used to start pottying at 6 months or earlier and I figured why not just get both of them done at once? I'm already in there the majority of my day and up until now Erin just gets in the way - why not involve her, too? Plus it will save money on diapers and I already do a load of laundry a day anyway. It's not that big of a burden.

Ask me how it's going in a week or two. And we'll see what happens once CBS starts up again.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I know the humdrum of life seems like it's not worthy of a post, but it is so wonderful to see what is going on in your family and how those kiddos are growing up. Thanks.

I sense that you'd like to give up the blog? Would we be able to get pictures and updates if we signed on to Facebook? I don't want you to feel burdened by the family expectations, but I really do appreciate the pictures and news. MOM

Good luck with the potty training. I am very, very, very happy to be finished with that. At least until we become foster parents.

I'm glad we're not the only over-acheivers! Benjamin seems really interested in the potty too. He tells us when he's peeing in his diaper. So, we got him a potty. Sixteen months might be pushing it for a boy, but I don't want to miss my opportunity if this is it!

I'm digging Erin's pigtails! And Luke's celebrity wave in the aviator jacket cracks me up. The kids are so cute - as usual!

Girl, you makes such pretty babies. :) I think group potty time is a brilliant idea! If only my Mom had thought to do that with my little brothers. One time she let big bit go naked in the house with the idea that he would have to use the potty when he had to go. Yeah, he peed on the floor... twice. Lol.
